I love OPRAH!! really, who doesn't, and I love to read!! So when Oprah, had writer Elizabeth Gilbert a few years ago on her show talking about her book, I took notice. I was perusing the shelves of the bookstore the other day, and came about the book "Eat, Pray, Love." My thought, if it's good enough for Oprah, it's good enough for me. I purchased the book, and can't quite put it down, my eyes are hurting actually. I'm only a few chapters in, but I'm hooked.
Elizabeth Gilbert, had the seemingly perfect life. A successful writer/journalist, she had the Manhattan Apartment, the New York suburb house, the husband, just about everything. Underneath, however, there was emptiness, she was falling apart on her bathroom floor every night! After a painful divorce, another failed relationship, she went on a year long journey, to Italy, India and Bali. I was so intrigued to see her leave everything behind to start anew. I often find myself wanting to take that leap and move to Italy, and see what becomes of it. Gilbert's language is vivid and colorful, she interjects humor subtly. I am on this journey with her. I can see the streets of Italy come alive, I can see her pain swell the words on the page. Seldom, have I rooted for a character, and rejected them, but Elizabeth isn't a character this is her life journey... She comes across religion and spirituality in an almost refreshing way. So, I'm so excited to find out what's next, so I'm cutting this blog short to continue reading! If you have the chance to pick up this book do so, and tell me what you think!
I ask this question, how many of you out there every picked up and left? how was your journey?
As I continue reading, I will update this post.
Ciao,
